How it works
From the US prescribing label for the same active substance (Nayzilam). It describes the substance, not this exact product.
The exact mechanism of action for midazolam is not fully understood, but it is thought to involve potentiation of GABAergic neurotransmission resulting from binding at the benzodiazepine site of the GABA A receptor.
Midazolam is primarily metabolized by liver and intestinal cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) to its pharmacologic active metabolite, 1-hydroxy midazolam (also termed α-hydroxy-midazolam).
