This describes the position in the United States. Rules in Switzerland differ; an approved peptide medicine there is in its national register.
In a regulatory gap. The FDA placed BPC-157 in 503A Category 2 — bulk substances that may present significant safety risks — on 29 September 2023, and removed it from Category 2 in April 2026. Removal is not approval: it is still not on the 503A Bulks List. On 23–24 July 2026 the FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted to recommend adding it to the 503A Bulks List, against the recommendation of FDA staff. An advisory vote changes nothing by itself: the FDA must still act, through rulemaking, before it can lawfully be compounded from bulk.
Prohibited at all times. WADA names BPC-157 under class S0, non-approved substances.
What changed, and when
Placed in 503A Category 2 (may present significant safety risks).
Removed from Category 2. Not added to the 503A Bulks List.
Advisory committee votes to recommend it for the Bulks List. FDA staff had recommended against.
What to be careful about
There is no approved human medicine containing BPC-157 anywhere. Published human trials are essentially absent; the evidence people cite is animal work. Material sold online is labelled "research use only" and its identity, purity and sterility are unverified by anyone.
Why there is no dosing information here
There is no authorised human dose to report. Any figure printed here would come from a vendor or a forum, and would look exactly like one taken from an approved label — which is the specific confusion that makes this category dangerous.
