How it works

This product’s leaflet is published as a scanned document. This section quotes the US prescribing label for the same active substance (metoprolol). It describes the substance, not this Bulgarian product — its uses and doses can differ.

Metoprolol is a beta 1 -selective (cardioselective) adrenergic receptor blocking agent.

This preferential effect is not absolute, however, and at higher plasma concentrations, metoprolol also inhibits beta 2 -adrenoreceptors, chiefly located in the bronchial and vascular musculature.

How the body breaks it down

Metoprolol tartrate is primarily metabolized by CYP2D6.

How it leaves the body

In most subjects (extensive metabolizers), less than 5% of an oral dose and less than 10% of an intravenous dose are excreted as unchanged drug in the urine.
