How it works
From the US prescribing label for the same active substance (Optiray 320). It describes the substance, not this exact product.
Intravascular injection of ioversol opacifies those vessels in the path of the flow of the contrast medium, permitting radiographic visualization of the internal structures until significant hemodilution occurs.
Ioversol may be visualized in the renal parenchyma within 30 to 60 seconds following rapid intravenous injection.
Greater than 95% of the administered dose was excreted in urine within the first 24 hours, with the peak urine concentration occurring in the first two hours after administration.

WARNING: NOT FOR INTRATHECAL USE Inadvertent intrathecal administration may cause death, convulsions, cerebral hemorrhage, coma, paralysis, arachnoiditis, acute renal failure, cardiac arrest, seizures, rhabdomyolysis, hyperthermia, and brain edema [see Warnings and Precautions ( 5.1 )].

The most common reaction is nausea, occurring at a rate of 1 percent.
