What it is for

  • Pazenir monotherapy is indicated for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer in adult patients who have failed first-line treatment for metastatic disease and for whom standard, anthracycline containing therapy is not indicated. Pazenir in combination with carboplatin is indicated for the first-line treatment of non-small cell lung cancer in adult patients who are not candidates for potentially curative surgery and/or radiation therapy.

Paclitaxel protein-bound particles for injectable suspension (albumin-bound) is a microtubule inhibitor that promotes the assembly of microtubules from tubulin dimers and stabilizes microtubules by preventing depolymerization.

This stability results in the inhibition of the normal dynamic reorganization of the microtubule network that is essential for vital interphase and mitotic cellular functions.

How it leaves the body

Less than 1% of the total administered dose was excreted in urine as the metabolites 6α-hydroxypaclitaxel and 3′- p -hydroxypaclitaxel.
