How it works
From the US prescribing label for the same active substance (Cefuroxime axetil). It describes the substance, not this exact product.
Cefuroxime axetil is an antibacterial drug [see Microbiology ( 12.4 )].
The axetil moiety is metabolized to acetaldehyde and acetic acid.
Cefuroxime is excreted unchanged in the urine; in adults, approximately 50% of the administered dose is recovered in the urine within 12 hours.
Effect of Food: Absorption of the tablet is greater when taken after food (absolute bioavailability increases from 37% to 52%).
