How it works
From the US prescribing label for the same active substance (Moxifloxacin). It describes the substance, not this exact product.
Moxifloxacin is a member of the fluoroquinolone class of antibacterial agents [see Microbiology ( 12.4 )].
Approximately 52% of an oral or intravenous dose of moxifloxacin is metabolized via glucuronide and sulfate conjugation.
The sulfate conjugate (M1) accounts for approximately 38% of the dose, and is eliminated primarily in the feces.
Co-administration with a high fat meal (that is, 500 calories from fat) does not affect the absorption of moxifloxacin.

Safety of the active substance
From the US prescribing label for the same active substance (Moxifloxacin). It describes the substance, not this exact product.
Fluoroquinolones, including moxifloxacin tablets, may exacerbate muscle weakness in patients with myasthenia gravis.
- Moxifloxacin tablets are contraindicated in persons with a history of hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or any member of the quinolone class of antibacterials [see Warnings and Precautions ( 5.8 )].
- Known hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin tablets or other quinolones ( 4, 5.8 )
The most common adverse reactions (>0.3%) leading to discontinuation with the 400 mg oral doses were nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, and vomiting.
